What to bring, where you are going, and how to walk the 697m² floor at 385 South Gippsland Highway without wasting the first hour.
A first gym visit goes wrong in boring ways. You forget shoes that stay on your feet. You spend twenty minutes guessing where the squat rack is. You leave without asking the one membership question you actually had. This is a straight walkthrough for Evolution 24/7 Gym so the first hour is useful.
The site is 385 South Gippsland Highway, Dandenong South VIC 3175. Brand name on the door is EVO FITNESS. If you need to talk to someone before you come, call +61 412 880 486 or use the contact form.
Before you leave home
Bring:
- Shoes you can squat and walk in (not smooth-soled dress shoes)
- A water bottle
- A towel if you have one
- Headphones if you want them
- Any existing program written down, even if it is three lifts
Leave the full fashion kit at home. You are here to learn the room. If you already have a membership enquiry in progress, bring whatever access details you were given. If this is a look-around, say that when you arrive or when you call ahead.
Eat something ordinary 60 to 90 minutes before if you plan to lift. A first visit that includes a heavy set on an empty stomach is a poor experiment.
Finding the building
You are looking for a highway address, not a shopfront between cafes. Put the full street into maps once, not just “EVO gym”, so you do not land on another business with a similar name. Dandenong South has plenty of industrial frontage. The last turn is easier in daylight the first time.
Parking is at the site. You should not need a multi-storey or a ticket machine. Lock the car like you would at any highway business after dark.

What the floor is for
The gym is 697.23m². It is organised by zone, which is the bit people miss when they wander. A fuller map lives on the zones guide and the facility page. For a first visit, walk this order:
- Amenities: know where you can put a bag and where the bathrooms are
- Cardio: note bikes, steppers, or treadmills for a warm-up
- Pin-loaded: machines with a stack, useful if free weights still feel noisy
- Squat rack and power: bars, pins, and the area you do not walk through mid-set
- Plate-loaded: machines you load with plates
- Cable and functional
- Dumbbell and bench
- Stretching and mobility
You do not need to use every zone on day one. You need to know they exist so the second visit is faster.
A first session that does not wreck you
Forty minutes is enough.
- Five to eight minutes easy cardio
- One pin-loaded push, one pull, one leg pattern
- One dumbbell movement you already know
- Five minutes in mobility
Write the weights. The number can be light. The point is a baseline, not a story about how hard the first day was.
If you already lift, do a normal light session and stop one set earlier than ego suggests. New floors change your footing and your sight lines. People miss pins and walk into your bar path when they are learning the room too.
Access, membership, and what we will not invent
This article will not quote a price. Prices and join offers change, and inventing a number here would be a lie. Ask on the phone or at contact.
Access is 24/7 once you are set up. The first visit may be a tour or a staffed window. Do not assume you can walk in at 3am on day zero unless that has been confirmed. After access is live, the late-night pattern is yours. Read what a 24/7 gym here is like if that is the main reason you are joining.
Etiquette that keeps the floor usable
Rerack plates. Dumping a 20 kilo plate against a wall because you are in a hurry is how 24 hour gyms get worse for everyone, including you at 6am.
Do not live on the only squat rack for 25 minutes of curls. Work in if someone asks and you are resting.
Wipe the bench. It is not a personality test.
If you want music in your ears, fine. The room still has other people in it at 10pm.
After you leave
On the drive back to Keysborough, Dandenong, or Hallam, decide the next two session times. A first visit without a second date is a look, not a habit.
If something about access was unclear, call +61 412 880 486 the next day while you still remember the question. Do not wait two weeks and then blame the gym for a form you never sent.
What a useful second visit looks like
Come back within five days. Same bag, same shoes, a written session. Do not “just look around” again. The second visit is where the floor becomes a habit instead of a tour.
If the squat rack is taken, use the pin-loaded leg pattern you already noted. If cables are free, run the 35 minute cable session. The point is that you already know two fallbacks.
Photograph nothing. You will remember the room better if you are not framing it.

People who live toward Hallam or Lyndhurst sometimes do the first visit on a Saturday and the second on a weekday night. That is a good test: the highway feels different after 6pm. If the second trip still feels workable, the membership is more likely to get used.
Questions people ask
Do I need to book the first visit?
Ask when you enquire. The floor is not a class timetable, but a first conversation is easier when someone can answer membership questions.
Is there parking on South Gippsland Highway?
Yes, at the site. You are not relying on street parking outside a strip of shops.
What if I only want to see the zones?
Say that. Walk the room, note the power area and the cables, then leave. The facility overview will make more sense after you have stood in the space.
First visits should be dull in the best way: you found the door, you learned the floor, you have a time for Thursday. Evolution 24/7 Gym is set up for that, not for a launch-day performance.
